The Opportunity Gap for Children Across Contra Costa County

Please read through this new report, released April 6, 2023, that uses data to highlight the opportunity gaps facing children and families in Contra Costa County. Findings from the report emphasize that opportunities for well-being and long-term success are not distributed equally throughout the county, and that the Covid-19 Pandemic furthered these disparities. The report presents data on a range of issues spanning childcare, education, physical and mental health, and financial stability, in an effort to present a whole-child approach to solving these inequities.

The report was developed by Children Now with support from the Contra Costa Economic Partnership, Dean & Margaret Lesher Foundation, and First 5 Contra Costa.
